Neighborhood Watch
Neighborhood Watch is a program which empowers neighbors to join together to help deter, detect, and diminish opportunities for crime. The Buda Police Department works in conjunction with residents to build partnerships which support and encourage their efforts through prevention programs, educational materials, training, and guidance.
Business Watch
Similar to Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch seeks to encourage the development of partnerships with local businesses to establish networks of communication and information sharing. We facilitate this process by connecting groups of businesses together and support them with information about crime trends, prevention efforts, and security measures.
Smart Watch Program
This voluntary program was designed for citizens to assist in criminal investigations through the use of available residential and business surveillance footage. Citizens can participate in the program by allowing the Buda Police Department to partner with them when a crime has occurred in their vicinity. Swift access to potential video footage saves investigative time, increasing the odds of apprehending criminals and solving crimes. Lock-Take-Hide Program
Burglary of vehicles is a largely preventable crime. Through this program, the Buda Police Department promotes vehicle burglary awareness and prevention with residents and businesses by encouraging motorists to LOCK their vehicles, TAKE their keys, and HIDE their belongings.
Citizens Police Academy
The Buda Police Department Citizens Police Academy aims to provide citizens the opportunity to learn more about the Buda Police Department and develop a working knowledge of it's day-to-day functions. The academy is 12 weeks long and will meet once a week for two hours each. Our second academy class is set to commence in March 2023 and has a seat limitation of 24 people. Academy dates to be released January of 2023. Click here to download the application and release of liability!
Community Outreach Efforts
Community involvement and outreach is incredibly important to us; we want the citizens of Buda to really know their police department. In a continuous effort to connect with the community, we participate in several annual events such as National Night Out and Shop with a Cop (see side menu for more information about these programs). We also utilize various social media outlets. If you are having a community event and would like an officer to visit, please contact us at (512) 523-1050.Follow us on Facebook!
