Buda to Accept Applications for New
Library Strategic Planning Committee
BUDA, TEXAS — The City of Buda is accepting applications for the new Library Strategic Planning Committee (LSPC) through 5 p.m., Monday, Jan. 24, 2022.
Buda’s LSPC will advise and provide guidance to the City Council and staff regarding the library’s strategic plan update. A citizen’s point of view provides valuable input into the operations of the City’s and Council's decision-making process. The job of Board and Commission members is crucial to the success of Buda's representative government. The Committee is expected to be appointed in February and complete by May 2022. “Ultimately, we are striving to get broader citizen input and engagement,” Buda Library Director Melinda Hodges said.
“This body will be considering Buda-area demographics and a variety of other city-related plans, performing SWOT analysis and analyzing a community survey in order to determine overarching goals for the Buda Library over the next five years,” Hodges explained. “Being a current library user isn’t required; we want to hear from community members with different experiences and opinions.”
The work the LSPC conducts affects the City of Buda’s Library’s accreditation status by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
Interested Buda residents may apply to be on the LSPC by completing the online application form (http://www.ci.buda.tx.us/FormCenter/City-Clerk-ApplicationRegistration-5/2021-Board-Application-Form-72) on the City of Buda website. For more information regarding the Strategic Plan process, email or contact Library Director Melinda Hodges at 512-295-5899.
The City of Buda is home to about 18,000 residents and has earned designations as a “Texas Main Street City,” “Tree City USA,” “Bee City Affiliate” and “Platinum-Level Scenic City.” Buda is situated along the Interstate 35 corridor, has 14 parks and a historic downtown district where residents and visitors alike can shop, dine, relax, and breathe easy here.
