BUDA, TEXAS – The Buda Destination Services Department invites the community to celebrate the holiday season at the 2021 Cocoa Jingle event with complimentary cocoa, carriage rides, ornament-making, last-minute photos with Santa, and a Jingle Jammie holiday pajama contest in the heart of Historic Downtown Buda. The event will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 22, from 3-6 p.m.
Participating businesses offering free cocoa samples include: • Shear Impressions Salon & Boutique, 209 San Antonio St. • The Oak on Main, 408 N. Main St. • Buda's Red Door, 218 N. Main St. • The Cigar Vault, 210 N. Main St. • Zoi Market Natural Grocery, 200 N. Main St. • Little Bluebird & Old Main Street Station, 122 Main St. • Water 2 Wine, 304 S. Main St., #103 • Los Olivos Market, 306 S. Main St., Ste. #104 • Buda Drug Store & Soda Fountain, 203 Railroad St., Ste. 2B • 569 Main, 569 Main St. • Buda Economic Development Corporation at Inspired Minds Art Center, 121 Main St. • Visit Buda, TX at Greenbelt Park Participants will vote for their favorite cocoa during the event. Guests do not have to bring their mugs to the event; participating businesses will provide sample cups. In addition to free cocoa, visitors can make free ornaments to take home at Inspired Minds Art Center or hitch a free carriage ride provided by Buggy Barns Museum throughout downtown during the event. The Greenbelt Park downtown will be home to several activities during the Cocoa Jingle event. Santa will be staged in the Gazebo for last-minute holiday photos. Guests will have the opportunity to write letters to Santa and get their faces painted. Participants are also invited to don their most festive holiday pajamas for a chance to win a gift card to a downtown business during the Jingle Jammie Contest. The contest will be held at 5 p.m. at the Gazebo, and the crowd will decide most festive awards for: • Best Under 10 • Best Over 10 • Best Duo • Best Group Commemorative mugs and ornaments will be available for purchase at the Visit Buda, TX tent located at Greenbelt Park. The 2021 commemorative mug features the Buda Doodledog. The 2021 ornament commemorates the Grizzle's family donation of the historic Buda windmill from its original location behind Old Main Street Station to its new prominent site on Main Street. Mugs and ornaments will be available for $5 during the event; the regular retail value is $10. This last holiday event of the season is an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to build joyous memories while supporting local small businesses by purchasing last-minute gifts, stocking stuffers, and dining in downtown Buda. The City of Buda is home to about 18,000 residents and has earned designations as a “Texas Main Street City,” “Tree City USA,” “Bee City Affiliate” and “Platinum-Level Scenic City.” Buda is situated along the Interstate 35 corridor, has 14 parks and a historic downtown district where residents and visitors alike can shop, dine, relax, and breathe easy here. — # # # — |
