LaVonia Horne-Williams, At-Large Position 3

The Honorable LaVonia Horne-Williams was elected by the Citizens of Buda in December 2021 and sworn-in to office in December 2021 as Councilmember At-Large Position 3.

Mrs. Horne-Williams has lived in Buda since 2001. As a 21-year resident of Buda, she has experienced and seen a great deal of growth in the City. Councilmember Horne-Williams is an active member of the Buda community and believes in establishing strong, responsible leadership that fosters an environment of the community.

Mrs. Horne-Williams serves her community by volunteering her time on several non-profit boards and committees that include: the Buda Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Board (2019-current), Buda Police Foundation Board (2021-current), Keeping Communities Connected (KCC) Board (2021-current), and City of Buda IT Committee (2022). Councilmember Horne-Williams previously served on the City of Buda Charter Committee, Historic Preservation Commission, Human Service Grant Committee, Bradfield Village Homeowner Association, and was a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).

Mrs. Horne-Williams and her husband Evans are parents to Lauren Williams, Martin Horne, Marlowe Horne, Aaron Williams and Kameron Scott-Williams. Lauren, Martin and Marlowe all attended Hays CISD schools and are graduates of Jack C. Hays High School. They also have two adorable furbabies, Squeaky and Rocki Williams.

Mrs. Horne-Williams has more than 20 years of experience in managing teams, operations, and personnel at the local, state government, and private industry levels. She has worked in business development, Small/Minority/Women-Owned business programs, workforce development, contracting and construction. Councilmember Horne-Williams is a graduate of California State University-East Bay, in Hayward, CA, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. She also holds a Master of Arts in Legal Studies from Texas State University, in San Marcos, TX. Councilmember Horne-Williams is passionate about our City. She plans to foster strategies that will deliver more efficient City services and technology, to be a voice for small businesses, and equitable representation for all citizens of Buda.
